Folks are usually about as happy as they make their minds up to be. ―Abraham Lincoln
Happiness and unhappiness are based on the patterns of how we think, act, and see the world/oneself.
Here is the difference between the two:
Happiness is being content. Unhappiness is desiring more.
Happiness is presence. Unhappiness is regret or worry.
Happiness is acceptance. Unhappiness is resistance.
Happiness is responsibility. Unhappiness is blame.
Happiness is confidence. Unhappiness is feeling inferior.
Happiness is connection. Unhappiness is avoiding interpersonal relationships by disliking yourself.
Happiness is the courage to change. Unhappiness is repeating bad patterns.
Happiness is balance. Unhappiness is extremes.
Happiness is living in reality. Unhappiness is chasing expectations.
One of my favorite reminders is:
You are what your deepest desire is.
As your desire is, so is your intention.
As your intention is, so is your will.
As your will is, so is your deed.
As your deed is, so is your destiny.– Brihadaranyaka Upanishad
“Happiness is a choice,” says the self-help movement—that if you’re not happy, it’s your fault. And people take that in and think they’re broken. That’s not help. That’s blame.
The real choice is awareness, deciding to wake up, and maybe just maybe choosing happiness from that place.

“Happiness = presence” ❤️ 💕
