Professor Chen Man Ch’ing , Tai Chi master/teacher, used to say, “Invest in loss.” It feels to me like he was talking about the same thing. … I love this Spark! I’m still struggling with wanting to avoid embarrassment, wanting to already know, etc. Thanks for the encouragement to shift away from that!
Thank you, Taylor, for the reminder. I would add that there’s no real failure until you quit the rest is just inconclusive trials that moreover can lead to serendipity. Imagine if the creator of the microwave oven had failed... Lots of love.
Hahah love this: "They know that it’s okay to look stupid—it’s not okay to stay stupid." All about learning and improving.
It's 100% true, can't be scared to try new things and look stupid. I tell myself that embarrassment is the cost of entry
Yo, side note. Is Daily Spark taking requests? I just saw a video on Timeboxing...wanted to hear your thoughts on the subject.
Yes 💯, here at the Daily Spark we always take requests. We’re like the DJ who actually requests and plays song requests.
Timeboxing? Never heard of it…is it like getting into the ring to fight procrastination lol

I really like the phrase, 'Invest in loss.' Thank you for sharing that.
Some people suggest reframing the idea of success/failure as inexperience/experience instead.
For me, I just tell myself that embarrassment is the cost of entry. This helps me accept embarrassment and overcome the fear of it.
It’s great to have a phrase that comes to mind when we experience some beginner’s embarrassment.
Thanks Taylor!
“The only way to avoid mistakes is to avoid anything new.”
💯

Wow, great point, Geraldine—thank you for sharing! It’s so true—real failure only happens when we quit.
It reminds me of this Edison quote: “Many of life’s failures are those who didn’t realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
Mistakes are the privilege of the capable, able, and motivated. Never give up trying
Yes, thank you—well said!
The only mistake is not trying.
